“What a terrific experience from start to finish. Our guide Bit (Big Bit!) is the man. Full of local knowledge about native plants, elephants and the region, he’s also pretty darn funny. The trip was everything advertised - and then some. The bamboo raft ride was an amazing start, followed by a short hike to a cool waterfall and a delicious local lunch. At the Pon Elephant Sanctuary, we got plenty of up close and personal experience with the elephants and it all seemed caring, ethical and humane, starting with some in-water frolicking and ending with preparing and feeding some special digestive food. In between was a great little hike…”

I got a big bite at one point and she was so helpful and fast to grab the first aid kit to help out. She was always happy to stop at a 7/11 for my partner to get smokes She was so good that you didn’t even need to ask for anything, she offered it before it even crossed your mind, I would 100% book again and would recommend this to anyone I speak to!”

“My whole day at Joy Elephant Sanctuary was amazing. Jade and the staff were so kind and helpful. The elephants are well cared for and respected. We got to prepare food for them and walk through the forest to see them doing their thing. The guide gave us lots of information about the elephants. We also relaxed by a waterfall with some hot tea. Lunch was Veg Pad Thai, salad, and some fruit. Before we left, they taught us how to make a Thai herb inhaler as a souvenir. Then we went bamboo rafting, which was beautiful. This place really respects the elephants and doesn't make them do tricks, entertain…”

One day in Mae Wang: ethical elephant sanctuary time, a 20-meter waterfall break, and bamboo rafting on a gentle stream with real smiles.

“The elephant sanctuary was a good way to intermingle with the elephants. One got to feed them, bathe with them in the mud or the water and just pet them. The bamboo rafting was an experience in itself with some rapids in areas. The waterfall was a good place to cool off but not the highlight of the day.”
